About Pastor Anthony Summers
Born & Raised: Apostle Anthony Summers is a native of Berkeley, California and is the youngest of nine children and graduate of Berkeley High School. At 17 years old, he took a job in books sales, traveling to approximately 38 states across the America for 7 years, learning to greet people in at least 12 languages. Upon returning to California in 1985, at age 25 and after a personal battle with addiction, he accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior of his life and his life would never be the same.
Education and Call to Ministry: He earned his undergraduate degree in history from San Francisco State University and did some further studies at the American Baptist Seminary of the West in Berkeley, California. In 1986, he accepted his call into preaching ministry under the late Bishop Glentis A. Turner and ordained in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church (C.M.E.) denomination. He invested twenty years in serving that organization. Due to the intenerate appointments by the Bishops, He pastored five churches in California within the denomination. In 2006, he independently organized Impact Bible Ministries in Vallejo, California.
Marriage: Anthony is married to his wonderful wife Denise, with whom they have been married for 28 years. They have three amazing daughters, Tiara who lives in Tampa, Florida, Taylor and Lauren who both live and are in college in Atlanta, Georgia.
Business: Anthony spent fifteen years employed by the Industrial Areas Foundation as a Community Organizer; the same organization and position that former U.S. President Barak Obama held with the I.A.F. in Chicago. He has been employed with Michael’s Transportation Services of Vallejo for nearly eleven years and now holds the position as the Business Development Director, and is responsible for millions of dollars in revenue. Together with CEO Michael Brown, and following the Luke 10 mandate of “two by two,” and in fulfilling the desire to make Vallejo a “Destination City.” Together they have prayed for nearly every public official in Solano County. Through his capacity in civic engagement when California Assembly Bill AB109 passed, he led getting in skills training and job placement for hundreds of formerly incarcerated inmates. These former prisoners now, testify to being “gainfully employed,” families reconciled, children doing well in school, they are taxpayers, some homeowners and life for them is so much better and productive.
International Ministries: Through his relationship with the city of Vallejo and the Transform Our World organization, he has traveled and ministered in several countries around the world, such as Tanzania and Zanzibar, Africa, meeting with two sitting presidents. He has ministered in Hong Kong, China; Brantford and Toronto, Ontario Canada as well as Cuidad Juarez, Mexico following the Matthew 28 mandate to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus Christ. After an extensive period of contemplation, and due to the uniqueness of his ministry, he has also accepted the mantle and call of an Apostle, to his city, state, nation and the world.
Our vision is to transform and influence the City of Vallejo for Christ. We are passionate about people and desire to improve life for everyone we encounter through the transforming power of Jesus Christ: locally, nationally, and internationally!
Core Values and Beliefs
Impact Bible Ministries believes the Holy Scriptures, The Bible as the revealed, written, infallible, and authoritative Word of God; sufficient for rule in every area of life.
We believe in one God, eternally existent in the Godhead: God the Father, (Yahweh), Creator of heaven and earth. God the Son, (Yeshua Hamashiach) Jesus Christ the Messiah, the only begotten of the Father, who was born of a virgin birth, lived an unblemished life, suffered and died on Calvary’s Cross for our redemption and the forgiveness of all humanity’s sins. We believe Jesus rose from the dead with all power in heaven and earth, sits now in authority at the right hand of the God the Father; and we will reign with Him forever and ever. We believe in God the Holy Spirit, in the Baptism of Holy Spirit according to Acts 2:4 and His indwelling presence; we believe Him to be our Helper, Revealer and our Internal Strength.
We believe in Prayer and the power of prayer for access and communication with God. We believe in water Baptism as public demonstration and outward expression of regeneration, and a life aligned right with God. We believe in the Assembling and Fellowship of the Saints, according to Hebrews 10:25; We believe that all unrighteousness can be cleansed, forgiven and renewed through the precious blood of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!

Founding: After more than twenty years of ministering in the Methodist denomination, in 2005, Holy Spirit led Anthony, his wife Denise and their family to start Impact Bible Ministries, with a Bible Study group in their Vallejo home, to equip people in the Word of God. As the Bible Study group grew, they were agitated to start a morning worship service, which when launched held services on Saturday mornings instead of Sundays. Incorporating Church on Saturdays was not in line with honoring the Sabbath, or any Adventist doctrine, but proving that this ministry was unique in its operation, outreach, structure and discipleship. This meant that Impact Church was to be rooted in God’s Word, had compassion for people, and effective in the community. As Pastor prayed concerning a name, Holy Spirit led him to name the ministry in accordance to its objective. The Church was to be impactful, Bible based and ministry minded and thus, came the name, Impact Bible Ministries.
Leadership: In organizing the ministry leadership, along with his wife Denise, Dr. Joyce Cooksey-James (now Bishop Joyce), was asked to help build the ministry. As long time acquaintances, she and her husband Alton James joined as the work began. Other founding families and members such as Suzette Goodwin, Wanika Brown, Robert White, Tawana Simmons, Roslyn Brown, Pam and Dwight Brown, Gerald and Darius Hinton, Edwin and Lisa Graham, Wayne and Gerri DeCoursey as well as Thomas Wells were a few of initial members that helped in the early stages. Later many other persons and families joined and helped to build and sustain the ministry, like Pastor Landon Goodwin, Margaret Thompson (Mother Ann) and daughter Keisha Allen, Donnell Thomas, Art Goodridge, Anna Gil, Alicia Roundtree, Terri Hayes, Olumiji Rucker, Lauren Harris, Angela Davis, Cedric Black, Bill LaVigne, Pastors Moses and Debra Drooh and their respective family members. With that, there are too many others to name without getting in trouble.
Present: As we continued to reach families, feed the hungry and attract many children we relocated to the local hotel and then finally into the Fairgrounds Plaza. North Vallejo was always one of the most underserved communities in Vallejo and we began our ministry with a mind to “serve and make life better for others.” Through its humble beginnings, Impact Bible Ministries has been able to reach the world locally and internationally with the gospel of Jesus Christ. In partnership with the city of Vallejo and the Transform Our World organization, Pastor Summers has traveled and taken the influence of Impact Church to the continent of Africa to meet with two sitting Presidents in the Nations of Tanzania and Zanzibar in East Africa. He also ministered in Hong Kong, China, Ciudad Juarez Mexico as well as in the cities of Brantford and Toronto, in Ontario-Canada. Impact Church has also sown financial seeds into Phuket, Thailand, and Liberia West Africa for medical supplies, following the commandment of Christ to, “Go into all the world and make disciples.”
